Fall/Winter ’19 Skate Sneakers to Look Infinitely Cool in

  • By Bryan Goh

The fascination with looking like a Sk8ter_Boi (shout out Avril Lavigne!) started with the beanie, a headgear that the boys wore to keep their hair out of their face. It then transcended into the humble graphic tee — Trasher, Supreme, and Palace — where wearing one meant you were cool and au-courant, you didn’t have to know how to do a kickflip or grind rails but it was pretty fly to pretend you did (fyi, not really). Fast forward to today, the humble sneaker isn’t privy to the allure of looking like a Los Angeles skater boy and in fact, these ones look damn good with a suit as they do on the ‘gram with a real skateboard.

Pictured above: Peacock coloured, ultra-luxe and “dude these look sick” — these look sketchy at the park even if you’re just there to take an #OOTD.
Clockwise from top: Dior Men “B23” low-top brown leopard print canvas sneaker, Gucci Screener suede sneaker, Hermès Vitesse suede sneaker, Dolce&Gabbana Miami suede and calf leather sneaker.

You might want to enter the arena of skater shoes but you don’t have the time (or talent) to scuff them up as real skaters do — Saint Laurent’s Bedford canvas sneakers already have the work done for you and Prada’s handsome calf leather ones are yours to muck up.

Slip-on sneakers are the perfect way to pretend you’re in California, pretend you actually know how to skate or if you’re too lazy to tie laces up.
From left to right: Givenchy Reverse calf leather sneakers, Bottega Veneta Intrecciato calf leather sneakers, Versace Medusa Pop canvas sneakers.
